So far, House Democratic leaders haven’t publicly demanded Rep. Anthony Weiner resign after admitting he sent suggestive photos of himself in his underwear via Twitter and then lied about it to everyone within earshot.
But they’ve made it clear they’d appreciate it if he’d go away. And soon.
In statements within an hour of Weiner’s stunning admission on Monday, not a single Democrat volunteered support for the man long mentioned as a possible future mayor of New York. And notably, none chose to comment on his defiant vow: “I am not resigning.”

Nevada Senator John Ensign announced on April 21, 2011 that he will resign amid an ethics investigation, insisting he’s done nothing wrong but saying he could no longer subject his family and constituents to further investigation.
The Republican, who is under investigation by the Senate Ethics Committee, announced in March he would not pursue re-election.

U.S. Representative Christopher Lee, R-N.Y., abruptly resigned from the House of Representatives after a report emerged on www.gawker.com that he had sent flirtatious e-mails, including one with a bare-chested photo of himself, to a woman he met on Craigslist.
Lee represented the 26th district of New York. Lee is married. He and his wife Michele have a young son named Johnathan, according to a biography on his congressional website.
