Misconduct Charges against Harlan County Kentucky Circuit Judge Russell Alred

 

The Judicial Conduct Commission filed misconduct charges against Harlan County Kentucky Circuit Judge Russell Alred on March 22, 2010.

These charges could force him from office.

 

Among several allegations, the judicial panel says that Judge Alred has tried to discredit Harlan County Judge-Executive Joe Grieshop by ordering a grand jury investigation into alleged drug trafficking in his office. That investigation was less than a month before an election which put Grieshop against Alred’s cousin. Misconduct charges accusing him of ordering a grand jury investigation against a local official in an effort to discredit him politically, according to documents have been released by the Judicial Conduct Commission.
