Former Wilson County Tennessee Police Officer arrested by Federal Authorities for trying to Sell Information

Federal authorities arrested John Patrick Edwards, a former Wilson County Tennessee police officer for allegedly trying to sell information on a federal drug investigation to a target of that investigation, in exchange for $100,000 and a Range Rover.   

Edwards, 38, of Mt. Juliet, a former Wilson County Sheriff’s Department deputy, was familiar with the drug investigation because he was a member of the local FBI Violent Crimes Task Force.

Early Release denied for former Covington County Alabama Probate Judge and Convicted Felon Sherrie Phillips

Early Release has been denied for former Covington County Alabama Probate Judge and Convicted Felon Sherrie Phillips. 

The same Montgomery Circuit Judge, Charles Price, sentenced Phillips to a split sentence of 10 years, with a three year prison term for theft by deception.  

Phillips was found guilty of stealing nearly $2 million from the estate of a deceased man and using her position and that money for unlawful personal gain.

DC Capitol Police Face New Grievances of Racial Discrimination from 50 Black Officers

Exactly 10 years and one week after more than 200 black Capitol Police officers first formally alleged rampant racial discrimination in the department, a new complaint charges that the same conduct prevails.

A grievance sent to the Office of Compliance on April 20, 2011 and an accompanying D.C. Bar complaint filed on April 18, 2011 claim that a Capitol Police employment attorney misled the court to frustrate a long-standing race discrimination case and that he himself subjects African-American employees, particularly women, to a hostile workplace.

Complaint filed that Cleveland Tennessee Court Interpreter Mark Weissenberger watched Porn during Court

A court language interpreter suing the county for back wages has found himself the object of complaints for allegedly watching pornographic material on his laptop while court was in session.

According to documents acquired under the Open Records Act, complaints concerning allegations of misconduct by Mark Weissenberg were made by two family violence court advocates.

Judge has refused to lower $500,000 Bond of former Saline County Chief Sheriff’s Deputy accused of Sexual Misconduct with a Harrisburg Illinois Teenager

A southern Illinois judge has refused to lower the $500,000 bond of Todd Fort, a former Saline County chief sheriff’s deputy, accused of sexual misconduct with a Harrisburg teenager.

Todd Fort’s request for the bond reduction was denied on April 20, 2011.  

Fort is to stand trial May 4, 2011 on charges largely accusing him of sexual assault and criminal misconduct with the teenage girl, now 18, last year.

Former Niles Indiana Police Officer Ivery Cross Admits Sexual Assault of 19-year-old Male Inmate

Former Niles Indiana city police officer Ivery Cross III’s admission that he sexually assaulted a 19-year-old male inmate at the Niles Law Enforcement Complex wasn’t the only surprising development on April 20, 2011 in the high-profile case.

In addition, it was disclosed during courtroom discussions in Berrien County Trial Court in Niles that Cross continued to maintain contact with the victim in the aftermath of the assault.

Deborah Peagler easily could be someone you know. She is in her 40s, has two daughters and was once one of the highest-paid employees in an electronics manufacturing company. She found time to work on her associate degree, sing in a choir and teach illiterate inmates how to read. All this while she was behind bars, serving 25 years to life in the Central California Women’s Facility in Chowchilla after being found guilty of first-degree murder in Los Angeles in 1983.

She was still in prison two decades later when a couple of land-use lawyers from Walnut Creek took on her case — pro bono — and set out to prove that not only was Peagler forced into prostitution and brutally abused by the man who pimped for her, but that she was wrongfully incarcerated for his death.

Woman who was taken to Jail from bed while wearing only a T-shirt sues Portland Oregon Police

Two Portland Oregon Police officers humiliated Sherrie Sandau, a 47-year-old woman when they arrested her, half-naked, at her home and drove her to jail despite her multiple pleas for clothing to cover her lower body, her attorney said in federal court on April 20, 2011.

Ms. Sandau had been in bed and was wearing only a tank top and T-shirt, with no underwear or pants, when she was handcuffed in front of her home.

Ruth Ann Olson, former Superior Wisconsin City worker, goes to Jail for Stealing from City

A former Superior Wisconsin city finance employee accused of stealing more than $1,000 in city funds will spend a year on probation and 10 days in jail.

Ruth Ann Olson, 58, pleaded no contest on April 18, 2011 in Douglas County Circuit Court to one felony count of misconduct in office and one count of misdemeanor theft.

Gay Marriage Foes ask Federal Court of Appeals to stop California Judge Vaughn Walker from showing Proposition 8 Trial Video due to his Violation of Court Rules

Judge Vaughn R. Walker, the federal judge who presided over the California Proposition 8 trial, is under fire from Christian conservatives for showing a three-minute videotape of the trial on the lecture circuit.

The sponsors of the 2008 ballot measure that banned same-sex marriage have asked a federal appeals court to order retired Judge Vaughn R. Walker, who ruled against Proposition 8, to return the videotape so it can be put under lock and key.
